Start When you feel like it! (You’ll just be behind those that start today)

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is right now”.

No further explanation needed right? You understand? YES? Great. then lets not dwell on it too much. You know EXACTLY what needs to happen. People often say the first step is the hardest- but I argue that it could actually be the easiest if you frame your mindset around being an actual beginner instead of walking in and expecting to be great in a short amount of time.

I say this because in my experience one of the big reasons why step one of any journey- be it fitness related or not- is so hard is because people will expect big results in a short amount of time. IT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK IN THAT FASHION. Now don’t get me wrong, you should set clear specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based goals (otherwise known as SMART goals) but let’s hone in on the time based portion.

There exists this continuum on which progress and time lie. They intersect when action is put in. Continuous action leads to continuous progress. This timeline can go into the negative the less action is taken.

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Realistic
  • Time based
